‘WE DEMONSTRATED THAT LEARNING AND SLEEP DISORDER CAN BE TREATED WITH URIDINE’

Büşra Öcalan, Research Assistant in Department of Physiology, Uluday University says they have been granted ‘Best Scientific Research Award'. Öcalan says “We received this award with our study investigating effect of uridine treatment on learning and memory functions in animals exposed to sleep deprivation. We wanted to assess the negative effects of sleep deprivation in our study. Considering that especially university students cannot get enough sleep in mid-term and final exam weeks, we planned this kind of a study to learn how the sleep deprived performance affects their memory functions. As a result of our study, we have demonstrated the reason of sleep withdrawal and ability to treat learning disorder with uridine treatment”.
